50 Days of Amazing Grace is an annual series {of short, to-the-point posts} that aims to inspire and empower you to live as an ‘Easter person,’ i.e. one who is joyful and ‘sent forth’ to proclaim the wonder of Jesus’ Resurrection. It is inspired by the Easter Season, which, for us Catholics, lasts for 50 days. (You can find the first and second series of posts here and here respectively. For this year’s series of posts, click here.)
Anthony and I just came from an amazing praise and worship session with good old friends, most of whom we had served with when we were still working fulltime in our youth ministry.
Some of us had not seen one another for years, some had gone separate paths, some are now serving the Lord in different communities and ministries (or not at all) but we all gathered together to worship and thank God for His redeeming love and overflowing blessings for us (and our families).
Being there — just to worship — was like taking a long drink of cold water during a hot day. It was absolutely refreshing, plus inspiring and empowering all at the same time.
Even if I couldn’t focus 100% because Anne was with us, I could really sense God’s presence — encouraging us to keep on serving Him in our own special ways… calling us back to Him… reminding us of the fire of our ‘first love’ — the first time we gave our lives to Him.
When we are called to just ‘come and worship,’ just as our friends and I were called to do earlier this evening, I believe that God wants to tell us something. I believe that He wants to give us something too, to bless us.
Sometimes, we may not want to respond to the call because we just have ‘too many things to do’… ‘We are too busy,’ we say. But God still calls us. And waits patiently for us to respond.
Usually, when we do end up saying ‘yes’ to His call, He blesses us in so many ways… and empowers us to do what He wants us to do — whether it’s to serve Him through a certain ministry, or to minister to our own families… He calls us to do His will the best way we can.
So if you feel that God is calling you to come and worship Him today, go ahead. Say ‘yes’!
Reflection: If you think about it, we are actually called to ‘come and worship’ God every day… to come away for a while with the Lord… even for just 15 minutes of quiet time and prayer. The question is: will we respond? Will we say ‘yes’ to His invitation?
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank You for being patient with me especially when I refuse or forget to heed Your call to ‘come and worship.’ Help me to say ‘yes’ to You each time You call. Amen.
