Welcome, friends!
I’m co-hosting and participating in the
Catholic Bloggers Network Keep LOVE in LENT Blog Link-Up 2014!
We’ll be sharing tips, stories and experiences that will help us focus on
Lenten sacrifices, prayer and good deeds
and how to carry them out with
LOVE instead of a GRUMBLE.
Are you a Christian blogger who’d like to share Lenten ideas?
You’re welcome to join in!

I wasn’t able to write this post earlier because something happened… my grandfather (shown below) — whom I had shared about in previous posts — passed away. He lived a long, full life, and would have been 89 this Ash Wednesday, March 5, which is also his birthday. So, in a way, it will be a different kind of Lent for our family.
Just as Lent is a time for recalling Jesus’ suffering and death, we will also be grieving my Lolo‘s death and, just as we rejoice in the Resurrection, we will also rejoice, knowing that God has called my grandfather Home. I wrote a post recently on Upside Down Homeschooling about 5 Ways to Keep Love in Lent, as part of this blog link-up. You can click on the image below to read it.
I ended that post by saying:
To keep love in Lent, we must remember that lent is all about loving Jesus. If we have so many grand plans and traditions yet forget to focus on Jesus, His love for us and respond to that love, then it is all for nothing.
As we ‘celebrate’ a different kind of Lent this year, without my grandfather, I take courage in the knowledge that THIS LIFE, our life here on earth, is but temporary. And while we are here, we must do all we can to keep the love alive — the love for God and for others. This is why Jesus came, this is why He suffered, died and rose again. This Lent and beyond, let’s do what we can to keep the love alive.

Now it’s your turn!
Here’s what we ask of those joining the Keep Love in Lent carnival:
1. Link your post right here between
Monday, March 3 and Monday, March 10
2. Copy and paste the hostesses’ blog names/links to the bottom of your post so that your readers, who may also blog, can join in the fun and link up.
3. Please follow your hostesses’ blogs and like our FB pages. As a courtesy, we ask all who participate in the Keep Love in Lent link up to click to all of the hostesses and follow us. We also encourage this so that you don’t miss updates about the Lenten carnival! And besides, we’d love to stay in touch regularly!

Visit, enjoy, be inspired by and comment on the blogs in your “group!” The Keep Love in Lent carnival is not a link and run event…sorry, folks! A requirement of participation is our follow frenzy.
Visit, enjoy, be inspired by and comment on the blogs in your “group!” The Keep Love in Lent carnival is not a link and run event…sorry, folks! A requirement of participation is our follow frenzy.
Here’s how it works:
* Once the linky closes on 3/10/14, the admins of the Keep Love linky will email ALL who’ve linked. We will provide you with info regarding the “group” to which you are “assigned.”
* You are asked to visit the blogs in your group (there will be approximately 10-12) and leave meaningful comments within a given time frame. In this way, traffic to all blogs is increased and we all benefit from each others’ work!
~ And that’s IT for the participation guidelines.~

Praying for you during this difficult time! Losing a grandparent is so tough…It’s a shock to the system, and nothing less. May God bless you and your family!
Your post on how to keep love in Lent was a wonderful reminder that this season isn’t just about giving up candy and soft drinks; it’s about turning to Christ who is love incarnate.
Thank you for sharing this!

My condolences to you and your family. It’s truly a hard thing to go through when we lose someone so close. (We almost lost my Lola last January – and I can’t even begin to imagine how it would’ve have felt if she had gone…!) But yes, we take solace in knowing that our loved ones has been called Home, that this place is temporary, and that Jesus loves us. Take heart, my friend, Jesus (and Mary) is at your side!
