Breastfeeding in the Philippines Archives

Such exciting news! 🙂 My friends and fellow breastfeeding moms , Justine Tajonera and Jenny Ong of have come up with a children’s book about breastfeeding! Titled Snuggle Wuggle Wee, it is a book that, according to , is “about a little girl who’s about to become an ate (older sister). Within the book, the family bond (which includes breastfeeding) is celebrated.”

The book costs Php 250 and proceeds will support L.A.T.C.H. projects — including . The book launch will be at the at the Rockwell Tent today, Saturday.

I won’t be able to go to the bazaar because of the Kerygma Conference, but I do hope to get my own copy of the book soon! 🙂 Jenny said that the book’s website will be up after the launch and that it will be available with select mompreneurs, so stay tuned! As I said in my previous post about the Baby Carnival, I won’t be able to attend the bazaar as I have work and I think I’ll be too tired to commute all the way to Makati after office hours (preggy mama blues). I was also privileged to share the story of Melissa Menes, a Filipina mom who so generously chose to share her breastmilk, despite the fact that she is currently coping with the loss of her third child. Melissa allowed us to share her entire story, which originally appeared , on Smart Parenting’s website, to help raise public awareness of the importance of milksharing. month is almost over but there are still so many reasons to celebrate this great gift and privilege of being able to nourish our little ones! 🙂 Yes, breastfeeding truly is best and is one of THE best ways to provide perfect bonding moments between you and your child… even way beyond infancy! (Believe me, this is SO true! Our little girl is already three and still nurses!)

One of my frustrations as a first time mom was that Jia was not able to latch and I was not able to directly breastfeed her. When Joya was born, Jia was almost 3years old and typical of an older kid, she wanted to do what Joya can do and thus, she started breastfeeding. Wild, right? 🙂

First, let me apologize again for the delay in posting this giveaway by . As you may already know, last week was all about the storm and floods and relief operations in the Philippines. Relief operations are still ongoing actually and you guys can still help out in your own little way, especially since we’ve been visited by another typhoon.
