So much has happened (yet again!) since my birthday post here. Truth be told, while part of me felt guilty for “neglecting” this space, another part of me felt relieved somehow; “liberated” even.
You see, I used to feel “pressured” to blog regularly because I wanted to keep up with the other more popular bloggers out there. I used to be scared of losing followers or readers (the few that I have! Ha!) because they might think that I had abandoned this blog.
But, like I’ve said before, this blog — and everything related to it, like my , , , and YouTube channel (if you can call it that, ha, ha!) — is NOT mine but ultimately GOD’s. And He very recently sent me a reminder about that fact, too:
When I first opened the e-mail invitation to the Catholic Social Media Awards, I didn’t read it properly and thought that it was from the Catholic Social Media Summit team. I was expecting an e-mail from them because I had been invited to be . (If you’re free on Nov. 18, please do join us! Just click here to register.)
So I was really surprised that this blog had made it to the list of nominees for the CSMA! Praise God!
I have never claimed to be an inspiring person/blogger/personality but whenever people say that I am, I always say that if there is anything about me or my life or blog or posts that is inspiring, it’s all God’s grace. And it’s all because I — who am imperfect, sinful, weak, broken-without-the-healing-power-of-Christ — do my best to say “yes” daily to God’s call.
And His call now, more than ever, is to PRAY and INSPIRE OTHERS amidst the chaos of this world.
If you have seen the news lately or scrolled through social media feeds, you’ll have an idea about what I mean. Just some examples:
People bashing the Church for making a stand against the culture of death and calling for healing in our country.
Hundreds of thousands of our fellow Filipinos displaced in Marawi.
Conflicts everywhere, including in the Middle East.
People — even children! — getting shot and killed while praying in church.
My heart has been so heavy these past few days. Well, these past few weeks and even months, actually (not all the time but at certain times, definitely!). We live in a world where “this present darkness” (from Ephesians 6) can leave us feeling down, hopeless, and/or afraid.
Yet, we know that God is more powerful than all these. Jesus suffered, died, and rose again, and His victory on the cross is our victory, too. Ephesians 6 again comes to mind as I write this, specifically verses 10-18:
Battle against Evil
Finally, draw your strength from the Lord and from his mighty power. Put on the armor of God so that you may be able to stand firm against the tactics of the devil. For our struggle is not with flesh and blood but with the principalities, with the powers, with the world rulers of this present darkness, with the evil spirits in the heavens. Therefore, put on the armor of God, that you may be able to resist on the evil day and, having done everything, to hold your ground. So stand fast with your loins girded in truth, clothed with righteousness as a breastplate, and your feet shod in readiness for the gospel of peace. In all circumstances, hold faith as a shield, to quench all [the] flaming arrows of the evil one. And take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
Constant Prayer
With all prayer and supplication, pray at every opportunity in the Spirit. To that end, be watchful with all perseverance and supplication for all the holy ones.
Our world may seem full of darkness at times but our God is more powerful than all the “principalities,” “powers”, “world rulers,” and “evil spirits” out there. Believe it. Trust Him. Have faith. Let His light shine on you, in you, and through you.
Together, let us say “yes” to the call to pray and inspire others to do the same — to live for God’s greater glory, and to draw others to Him. Let us “put on the armor of God” and “pray at every opportunity.”
Caritas Christi urget nos (The love of Christ compels us)! The battle belongs to the Lord!
