Days of Grace: The Most Important Relationship

Days of Grace: God Will Supply All That You Need

We learned a new song (well, more of like a “rehashed” song) from one of the kids’ newest Bibles — the Young Learner’s Bible Storybook — which I was able to buy from Book Sale in SM Mall of Asia (for only P140!) a while back. It’s based on the Bible story where God provides manna from heaven to the people of Israel (Exodus 16: 1-26). The song is sung to the tune of “The Farmer in the Dell.” Here are the lyrics:

God gives us what we need,
God gives us what we need,
We don’t need to worry ’cause
God gives us what we need.

I recently wrote about God giving us what we need (through some very generous people!) for our homeschool on my homeschool blog and the past weeks, He’s also been showering us with so many blessings (not necessarily financial, through this blog, and other people — but that’s for another post altogether)! I can only say “Praise God” over and over for all these signs of His grace! 🙂

We’re still not completely debt-free and haven’t built up a 100% solid financial foundation (as solid as we want it to be!) BUT I know God will make a way for us! Actually, He’s working on it right now!

And guess what, dear friend, He will do the same for you, too! 🙂 Believe it with all your heart!

No matter what you’re facing right now, especially in your financial life, GOD is making a way for you (and me)! 🙂

Days of Grace: When You Feel That You’re Not Good Enough

Do you know what “comparisonitis” is? Well, I first read this term in one of Bo Sanchez‘s books and basically it’s the “sickness” of constantly comparing oneself with other people. I know I’ve been guilty of this many, many times (actually, I think I am guilty of this on a daily basis! *sighs*). I deal with thoughts like these from time to time, too:

Look at that homeschool family! They seem to have it all together — their kids are so well-behaved; so fluent in the Bible; their homeschool curriculum seems to be pretty solid! Why can’t we be more like that?

Wow, how I wish my kids were like _______ kids sometimes. They seem so obedient and respectful.

Gosh, if only we were more like ___________, then we’d be so much happier!

And so on…

I’ve even dealt with comparing myself to other mom bloggers and wondering how I can be more “famous” or “popular” as they are. (Thank God this phase didn’t last that long, ha, ha! And now I’ve come up with my own blogging philosophy, which is centered around this blog’s key verse, too, i.e. Matthew 6: 33).

Thankfully, too, you and I have a God who reminds me every day that I am, we are more than enough, because His grace is enough for us. (2 Corinthians 12: 9) There are no perfect people; no perfect families; no perfect homeschoolers; no perfect anything.

Except His perfect love. (1 John 4: 18)

Whenever you feel that you’re not good enough, rest in the knowledge that His love is more than enough to fill whatever lack you have, and to drive away whatever doubts or fears you have.

Our friends over in the U.S. have just celebrated (or, maybe, are STILL celebrating) their Independence. We in the Philippines celebrated ours last month. But really, what does it mean to be FREE? Check out this reflection on God’s Mighty Hand, taken from Prayables.com:

The fight for freedom began long before the fathers of our country decided there needed to be a United States of America. It started even earlier than the days when the Israelites shook off their Egyptian taskmasters. Exodus 13:9 draws a picture of the mighty hand of God. That’s the image to hold dear when you think of your own freedom. Your well-being is in God’s hand. As His child you are privileged to enjoy your independence while knowing that you can rely on the mighty hand of the Lord.

“This observance will be for you like a sign on your hand and a reminder on your forehead that this law of the Lord is to be on your lips. For the Lord brought you out of Egypt with His mighty hand.” – Exodus 13:9

To drive home my point that it is, ironically, only when we are “captives” of Christ that we are totally free, I invite you to watch this video from GodTube:

So, now, ask yourself: are you really free? If not, what’s keeping you “captive” these days? Perhaps, in the midst of it all, you need to focus on the one thing that can set you free: a life of love with the Beloved. 😉

P.S. I can’t say that I myself am totally, 100% free in all aspects. There are still things which “imprison” me and limit me and keep me from being the person God meant me to be. Let’s travel the road to freedom together, friends! 🙂 Won’t you come and join me?
