March for Life: The Philippine Version :)

The March for Life in the US has been held annually since 1974.  On January 22, 1974, the first March for Life was held on the West Steps of the Capitol. An estimated 20,000 committed pro-life Americans rallied that day on behalf of our pre-born brothers and sisters.

Fast forward to 2012. More and more people, especially young people, are joining in this momentous event for LIFE.

For us Filipinos, the time to stand up – or, to be more apt, MARCH – for what we believe in, i.e. the dignity and sanctity of human life, is NOW. It’s still pro-life month here, and although I’ve only been able to attend one of the events (the “Heart to Serve” conference organized by PSSA – read my reflections about it here), and missed Michael Voris‘s talks (huhuhu!), I’m hoping we’ll be able to attend at least one pro-life event as a family this year (like we did last year). However, hubby will be in Cagayan de Oro to serve in CFC’s (our Catholic community) school rehabilitation project and benefit concert for the victims of Typhoon Sendong, which is part of the MINDANAONE project.

I’m gunning for the Feb 25 Pro-Life March-Life Chain, but I don’t know if bringing the kids along will be advisable. Still, I know there are probably hundreds of families who bring along their children to the US March for Life, so why shouldn’t I right? 😉 (Though I don’t know how I’ll be able to handle 2 kids alone, LOL!)

February is PRO-LIFE MONTH in the Philippines!

More than being the “month of LOVE” (because of Valentine’s Day), February is the month declared as “Pro-Life” month by Pro-Life Philippines, based on the Presidential Proclamation on the “Respect and Care for Life Week,” by former President Corazon Aquino.

This year, we are celebrating the 25th Anniversary of this proclamation.
This is the official endorsement letter from the CBCP.

There are a number of activities lined up. As of today, Feb 1, 2012, these are (according to the Pro-Life Philippines Foundation):

Feb. 3-5: and the CBCP Episcopal Commission on Health Care in cooperation with Heartbeat International, Commission on Family and Life of Archdiocese of , Serve Life Philippines, and Couples for Christ Global Mission Foundation present the “HEART to SERVE” 1st Regional Conference and Training.
Venue: St. Michael Retreat House in Antipolo City.

Contraceptives will not make the poor richer!

With the ongoing battle against the RH Bill, our friends over at Filipinos for Life have come up with this video that is creative and to the point.

Ako ay may lobo, lumipad sa langit
Di ko na nakita, pumutok na pala
Sayang ang pera ko, binili ng lobo
Sa pagkain sana, nabusog pa ako


Translation (loosely translated – I am not very good at Filipino – blame it on my growing up in Brunei! hehe):
I had a balloon, it flew up to the sky
I didn’t see it anymore.. it already popped!
I wasted my money buying that balloon..
I should have bought food instead, my stomach would be full now.

Obviously, the lobo or balloon here refers to condoms (and other contraceptives). At the end of the video, it says:
Ang condom, pills, IUD atbp. hindi nakakain. (Condoms, pills, IUDs, etc. cannot be eaten.)
Hindi nakakapagbigay ng trabaho (They do not give employment.)
Hindi paaralin ang anak mo. (They won’t give your children an education.)
Sa RH Bill, mahirap ka pa rin. (With the RH Bill, you will still be poor.)
Ibasura ang RH Bill. Ngayon na. (Trash the RH Bill. Now.)

Contraceptives will not make the poor richer.

For love of God, country and LIFE: July 25 State of the Soul of the Nation Address

Look what I “discovered” on the other day. is organizing a State of the Soul of the Nation address, along with other religious groups (Catholics, Christians and Muslims) on July 25. GMA News actually last week. 


If you aren’t doing anything this Monday, I hope you could come and attend this event. For love of God, country and LIFE. God bless (and save!) the Philippines! FILIPINOS, UNITE UNDER GOD FOR LIFE!

A coalition of pro-lifers is organizing a massive delegation of inter-religious groups to release a STATE OF THE SOUL OF THE NATION ADDRESS on Monday, July 25.
This event is dedicated to commemorating the 43rd Anniversary of the Humanae Vitae which re-affirms the traditional teaching of the Catholic Church regarding married love, responsible parenthood, and lawful and unlawful ways of regulating birth.
The said celebration will coincide with the second State of the Nation Address of President Benigno Simeon Aquino III. Thus, it is in these momentous events that we deem it necessary to hold an activity that calls for the restoration of moral integrity in our country especially on issues that largely affect the family and the sanctity of human life.
As an opening salvo, there will be a celebration of the Holy Mass to be officiated by Most Rev. Bishop Broderick Pabillo, DD as main celebrant with renowned healing priest Rev. Fr. Fernando Suarez giving the Homily inside the Sanctuario De San Jose Parish Church in Greenhills, San Juan at 9:00 AM.  Simultaneous with the mass will be the worship of different evangelical groups at Club Filipino. 
After which, a silent march to Club Filipino will be held by those that attended the Mass culminating with a short program to be led by the various heads of the inter-faith alliance to be held at the Corazon Aquino Kalayaan Hall at the Club Filipino in Greenhills, San Juan City. A consolidated statement written by the Congress of the Faithful addressing the need to unite Filipinos in rekindling the fading status of morality in governance will be read and will be conveyed to President Aquino himself during the activities.
