As I write this, our beloved Philippines is again being lashed by heavy rains brought about by Tropical Storm Maring, and there are already a lot of flooded areas, including the village in Cainta where my parents’ home is.
Right now, my mom, brother and family, plus our two older kids (who have been there since Friday evening) are preparing in case they need to evacuate to higher ground. This isn’t the first time that there has been severe “evacuation-causing” flooding in the village — the first was during Typhoon Ondoy, and the second was during last year’s habagat-caused floods.
I know there are many of our countrymen who have already left their homes to go to other places like evacuation centers, plus many more who are stranded in their homes or on flooded streets as I type this post. Please do join me in praying for their safety, deliverance and good health. Here’s a prayer shared by one of my friends, Michelle of Beyond Silver and Gold, on Facebook:
May God’s grace be enough for all of us during these trying times, especially for those who — unlike us — don’t even have the basic necessities in life, and yet are buffeted by storms and affected by floodwaters. Lord, have mercy on Your people!
Lord, we need You. Lord, I need You.
P.S. You can find a list of emergency numbers if you need them. Stay safe, friends!
