Sharing the I made about our family’s annual Advent traditions, in the hope it will inspire other families too — remember, Advent is the time to prepare for Jesus’ birthday, i.e. Christmas! 🙂

Preparing for Advent, one of our favorite liturgical seasons — because it prepares us for Christmas! ❤️ We cover our home altars with purple cloth (ok fine, it’s actually purple crepe paper! 😁), take out our nativity set (we have more than one but I can’t find the others! 😂) and cover all the Baby Jesus figures in purple (they will be “revealed” on Christmas Day), and get our family advent wreath out too (such a good investment from St. Paul’s bookstore!). 💕 We have other Advent traditions too — see my next posts for details! 💝 Veni, Veni Emmanuel! 😇 Indeed, we are #TrulyRichandBlessed to be Catholic! #TRBFaith #LiturgicalLiving #Advent2016 (Special thanks to for our beautiful Scripture board! For those who asked, we bought our Advent wreath from St. Paul’s. :))
These Advent traditions “came” to us over the years, as inspired by fellow Catholic homeschoolers and their blogs. I am forever grateful to those moms who shared with us what “Liturgical Living” is about!

More of our family Advent traditions: (1) The Jesse Tree (we’ve had ours since 2011, I think!) 🌲; (2) Kind Deeds “Straws” to make Baby Jesus’ laying-place “softer” (we will place the Baby Jesus image on it on Christmas Day)👶🏻; (3) Advent read-alouds — we’re excited to read “Bartholomew’s Passage,” in addition to “Jotham’s Journey,” which we have had since 2014. 📚Plus a new find “Celebrating Advent with the Jesse Tree.” The Christmas Family Prayer Guide shown in the bottom picture is actually combined with an Advent Wreath Prayer Guide, also bought from St. Paul’s. More on our Advent read-alouds in the next post! ❤️ #TrulyRichandBlessed #TRBFaith #LiturgicalLiving #IntentionalParenting (Special thanks to / Michelle Siaotong Llaban for our Baby Jesus image! 🙂 )
One of our favorite family Advent traditions: our daily read-alouds!

Finally! 😍 Our books for our annual “One Christmas book a day” Advent tradition are ready… Err, sort of! 😁 I’ve yet to wrap them in brown paper and number them, as requested by the kids! 😂 Praise God we were able to build a reasonable collection of Christmas books over the years — thanks to Fully Booked, The Learning Basket, Booksale and Ablaze Communications! 📚 “The Story of Christmas” book on the topmost shelf (on the left) is actually an Advent Calendar with mini storybooks — sadly, some of our books are missing, huhuhu! 😭 Nonetheless, we will make the most of what we have and choose to have a meaningful #Advent season! 🎉 Praying you and your loved ones have the same, too! #TrulyRichandBlessed #TRBFaith #LiturgicalLiving
Just a loving reminder though: Don’t be pressured to do ALL of these traditions — just pick one or two if you want! What is most important is that we are able to create meaningful memories with our loved ones as we approach the Christmas season.
