Freebie Fridays: Download the Free ebook: Secrets of a Successful Homeschool Mom

January 24, 2014 by Tina 2 Comments

I have been a faithful reader of Simple Homeschool for a few years now. I always find the posts there encouraging and oh-so-timely. A few of my favorites are Stepping Outside the Grade-Level Box, Help! My 5-year-old won’t “do” school, The truth about preschool, and of course the “A Homeschool Day in the Life” series. It always seems to me that whenever I encounter challenges and struggle with doubts about our children’s current educational path, the post for that day or week on Simple Homeschool would be perfect for my situation. I’d like to believe that’s how God intends it to be. 😉

Anyway, as I mentioned before, I was privileged to have met Jamie, the editor of Simple Homeschool, in person last year, and even more blessed to have a guest post published on the site. Ironically, it is only now that I was able to download Jamie’s FREE ebook. Titled Secrets of a Successful Homeschool Mom I’m committing to finish reading it by next month. 🙂 I know I’ll learn a lot from it, and I’m sure you will too, especially if you’re new to or just exploring homeschooling!

secretsThe ebook is totally FREE for all subscribers of Simple Homeschool — click here for details on how to download it. Enjoy! 🙂

Do you have any questions about homeschooling? I’m no expert but feel free to ask me and I’ll answer as best as I can! 🙂

Freebie Fridays: Free $10 Credit from Canva for Truly Rich Mom Readers! {Merry CHRISTmas in advance!}

December 20, 2013 by Tina Leave a Comment

Five days to CHRISTmas! 🙂 I don’t know about you but I’m getting really excited. Although I still have work to finish, I’m already sort of on holiday mode. I’m praying fervently, too, that amidst the busy days ahead (we’ve come up with a schedule as to where we’ll spend each day of the break, and with whose side of the family), we will never forget to take time to remember the wonder of the story — the Christmas story, that is.

Anyway, this is just a quick post to tell y’all that the great people at Canva are gifting you guys with FREE $10 credit — exclusive to Truly Rich Mom readers! YEY! 🙂 Canva is actually free to use but there are certain images, backgrounds, etc. that are not, so if you want to use them, feel free to use your free credit! (OK, how many times did I use free in that sentence?! Ha, ha!)

Consider this my early CHRISTmas gift to you — well, Canva’s gift to you! Hee, hee! I wish I could give you more, dear friends, like this pile of gifts below, because YOU are all such precious blessings to me and my family! 🙂

Freebie Fridays: Homeschooling Resources for the Frugal Family — Subscribe to Free Homeschool Deals.com!

October 25, 2013 by Tina 4 Comments

I am what most people would call stingy or kuripot in the vernacular. However, I would prefer the term frugal. I have my parents — especially my dad — to thank for my “frugal streak.” My husband and I are neither rich nor poor; we have enough. We have what we need and are content with it — though we do also have our big life dreams for our family, like our own house with a compound for the kids to play in, etc. Nothing fancy. 😉

Since we are homeschooling, it certainly makes sense then that we should take advantage of the many resources out there that are available for free or at a discounted price. Luckily for us, Jamerril Stewart of Holy Spirt-led Homeschooling  has taken it upon herself to bless homeschooling families like ours by setting up FreeHomeschoolDeals.com — you can read more about it here or click on the screenshot below to go to the site.

I’ve only been a subscriber to the site for over a month and I’ve already been able to score some great freebies, like personalized VeggieTales tracks for my kids, free Kindle books for me and the kids, and lots of printables. (The question now is: WHEN will I have the time to read all those books and print all those printables?! Ha, ha!)

Anyway, if you’re looking for a way to cut down on your expenses, I highly recommend you check out FreeHomeschoolDeals.com — whether you’re homeschooling or not! 🙂

Happy weekend, everyone!

P.S. If you’re going to the WAHMderful Weekend, please do say Hi! 🙂

Freebie Fridays: Celebrating the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi

October 4, 2013 by Tina 1 Comment

It’s the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi today, one of the more “famous” saints, and someone whom my kids have been familiar with since they were younger. He’s actually one of my “saint-spirations,” i.e. saint inspirations. Our beloved Pope Francis chose his name because he was also inspired by the life of Saint Francis.

Anyway, I’m writing a quick post in case you want to celebrate his feast day — here are some links to free resources around the net:

10+ Ideas for Celebrating St. Francis of Assisi with Young Ones on Catholic Mothers Online

Children’s Activities for Feast of St. Francis on FamilyHoliday.net

And of course, for those who are more visual (like me and my kids), here are some videos you can watch with your kids:

(This cute cartoon video is one of my kids’ favorites! They never get tired of watching it! 🙂 )

(This biography of St. Francis lasts for almost eight minutes, but is very informative.)

(This video is about three minutes long and is only part of another video, mainly focusing on St. Francis’s conversion.)

For kids 8 to 18 years old, you can find links to four different videos here.

We’ll be celebrating St. Francis in a simple way today — we’ll watch the kids’ favorite video about him, do a “blessing of the animals” with the kids’ toy animals (because we don’t have any pets, ha, ha!), try to make an animal craft,  and read a book or two where he is mentioned — including Paul Gallico’s . (OK, let’s see if we can squeeze all this in! Ha, ha!)

51KniA5KmBL._SL500_AA300_Whatever you guys choose to do, I hope you have fun! 🙂 St. Francis, pray for us!
