A few months ago, I posted this picture of our youngest child’s legs on Facebook:
She seemed to have a bad case of skin asthma or allergies. We took her to a dermatologist and he confirmed it. So he prescribed some anti-allergy medicine and advised us to use Cetaphil’s Restoraderm Skin Restoring Body Wash and Skin Restoring Body Moisturizer along with some steroid-based anti-inflammatory cream.

Truth be told, we spent a lot on the Cetaphil Restoraderm products (more than I’d be willing to spend on any given day) — I had actually never heard of them before, since we usually only buy the Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser, especially when the kids were still newborns.
Well, the dent in our budget was worth it, since our little girl’s rashes cleared up a lot. We also steered clear of possible allergens. Soon, though, the Restoraderm Body Wash was finished, since our precocious daughter decided to use it as a bubble bath-of-sorts! (I got pretty mad about it, but it was my own fault, since I didn’t tell the nanny/yaya beforehand that it should be used sparingly, as it was quite expensive for us.)
So I was pretty psyched when we were blessed to receive this a few weeks ago from Galderma and (who, by the way, are having a promo — you can check it out on Cetaphil’s Facebook page ):
Thank you, Cetaphil Philippines! 🙂 |
The first bag contained Restoraderm body wash and moisturizer, plus Daily Facial Moisturizer. 🙂 Perfect timing, because we were thinking about buying the body wash again! 🙂 Yipeeeee! |

HOWEVER, our princess didn’t — and still doesn’t, actually — like the feeling of lotion being lathered on her legs. We always “fight” about it! We actually still have an opened, unfinished container of the Restoraderm lotion in the house. (Which is why I am thinking about giving away the one Cetaphil sent over… Hmmm…. Any takers?! Or maybe I’ll just raffle it off, LOL!)
Anyway, a friend told me to try using Moroccan Argan oil instead, and I immediately tried looking for it. Sadly, it was out of our budget. 🙁
BUT THEN, the fabulously kind mompreneur behind Cel Lopez-Dioneda, sent us some great goodies, which I wrote about here. One of the items she sent was — yup, God is SO good that way — a bottle of Moroccan Argan oil (read all about its benefits here)! 🙂

Well, this “wonder oil” works like a charm! 🙂 It has helped clear up Rysse’s rashes nicely, and whenever she does have a breakout, we usually alternate using it with the Restoraderm moisturizer (when she lets me put it on her legs). It worked so well for Rysse that I sent what was left of our Argan oil to my sister, too, to see if it could help relieve my niece’s eczema. I plan to get a bottle for ourselves soon, once I receive payments for a few finished writing projects. 🙂
If your child or someone you know (or maybe even you yourself) suffer from skin asthma, eczema, skin allergies, etc. I’d HIGHLY RECOMMEND these products for you to use (though they can be quite pricey, if you’re the frugal type {like me}! 🙂 You can order Moroccan Argan oil (and view more of Mommy Patch’s products) on Multiply here and view more of Cetaphil’s products on Facebook (you can also follow them on Twitter ).

I’ve been using restoraderm moisturizer for a couple of months on dry areas of my body after sun exposure or when it just feels dry (arms, legs, knees, elbows) its doing great until recently when I applied it to my arms it feels greasy and smelled funky (like used cooking oil with mayonaise), later on my arms got irritated. I checked on the expiry date but its way far from expiring so I tried to return it to Mercury Drug where I bought it but they just took the product and my receipt (even denying me a copy for reference) and told me not to expect the product will be replaced but to just wait for their call. That’s very disappointing.

Hi Marshee! Really? That is disappointing indeed! Actually, since writing that post, we’ve tried several different products for my daughter’s skin allergies, mostly more nature-based ones. So far, we’re quite happy with Planet Noah’s VOCO cream: http://www.planetnoah.com.ph/oasis-voco-cream.html. Thanks for dropping by and leaving a comment! God bless you and your family!

Hi, my 5 month old baby suffers eczema since she was still 2 month old, i’ve tried almost all branded and organic products but the allergies on her cheeks always comes back. My only comment about restoraderm is that it has sting when applied to face, thats why i stopped using it and switched to physiogel ai cream. I’ve read there is a new cetaphil restoraderm eczema, would like to try it, but it is not yet available on drugstore. Maybe you know where to buy it online? Is argan oil safe for babies? Where did you buy it? Thank you!!!

Hi Christine! 🙂
Thanks for your message. I am not sure where to get the new Cetaphil product, sorry! However, as far as I know, Argan oil is safe for babies — I got ours as a gift from Mommy Patch (http://mommypatch.com/). You can also try Indigo Baby’s Jar of Hope – safe for babies too: http://www.indigobabyshop.com/index.php/products.html. Praying your baby’s eczema clears up soon! God bless. 🙂
