My heart still aches for our brothers and sisters who have been affected by Typhoon Haiyan / Yolanda. There are no words to describe the desperation, the pain, the suffering, the hunger, the thirst, the cold that millions of people are going through right this very minute. There are many areas that have not been reached by aid, and the areas that have received donations seem to be in huge, disorganized messes. The situation seems hopeless indeed. There are no words indeed. No words.
And when there are no words, we can only pray.
And do what we can to help.
The little that we can do goes a long way.
So let’s do that.
Pray.
Act.
Let’s help the victims in whatever way we can. I wrote a post on November 9 about how we can do so, but since then there have been many, many other posts, articles, and campaigns put up on how to help. I just pray that the help that is given really does get to those in need.
On a personal note, we have friends who have been personally affected by the typhoon, mostly from Ormoc. They and their family members have horrible experiences to share about how Haiyan/Yolanda ripped through the area.
If you want to extend help to them, please let me know by contacting me, or sending me an email at . You may also donate to Gawad Kalinga, as they are one of the organizations spearheading relief efforts in Ormoc.
[…] P.S. I want to share with you some photos of a friend’s home — one of the thousands that have been destroyed by Typhoon Haiyan. I mentioned this friend in my previous post. […]
